Why did you study these subjects?
I chose Music because it’s the constant in my life. It’s the only thing I’ve always known I wanted to do with my life. I chose Maths and Further Maths because I was good at GCSE but I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to go from 3 hours a week to 10. Finally, Photography was a bit of a wild card but it turned out to be my favourite subject. It was the one option that let me escape from the pressures of exams and applying to university.
Tell us your favourite memory of your time at Carmel college sixth form
My favourite memory from 6th form was singing at end of year mass in Y13 because it was the opportunity I had waited for, for the duration of my time at Carmel. It was a great honour and the proudest moment of my life there.
How did Carmel College help you prepare for the future?
I was fully supported throughout the duration of my time at Carmel, both with my UCAS application and my life choices; particularly from Mr Madeley and Miss Regan and the music department. Without them I wouldn’t have ended up at Sage Gateshead where I am currently studying a BA (Hons) degree in Community Music.
Where are you now?
I am currently studying a BA (Hons) degree in Community Music. I absolutely love my degree and it has opened up so many opportunities for me both in performance and my development as a musician. Music has and will always be my passion and I guarantee without studying it at A-Level I wouldn’t have been able to continue down the route I have.
