Study Subjects:
Maths
Physics
Chemistry

Why did you study these subjects?
Having studied these subjects at GCSE at Carmel, I found that I really enjoyed them. I chose to study maths because I want to study mechanical engineering in the future. Also, having experienced how supportive and enthusiastic the maths department was during my GCSE’s I wanted the same for my A levels. Furthermore, I decided to study Physics as I find it really interesting and I get on well with the teachers. Physics is also a challenging subject which has helped me focus and keep on track with my work at college. Finally, I chose to study Chemistry to keep my options open as it can lead to different routes and career paths. Also learning about how chemistry is involved in everyday life interested me.

Tell us your favourite memory of your time at Carmel college sixth form
I have loads of amazing memories from Carmel sixth form. From the class room to trips far and wide. I think if I had to choose one it would be the trip to New York and Washington, it was unforgettable. Going with my mates was also one of the things that made it so special, alongside all the sites and activities, walking through central park, going up the Empire State Building, shopping and just soaking up the New York atmosphere. Overall it was one of the best experiences of my life that will stay with me forever!

How did Carmel College help you prepare for the future?
Carmel College has given me a solid foundation for further study but also invaluable skills for later life, whether that be through strong academia, public speaking or being able to form a well-balanced argument in class discussions. Being at Carmel College has also helped me with my time management, having to balance extra-curricular activities with free time and the College work load, to have a well-rounded life outside of college which is extremely important. Being at Carmel also means you have responsibilities; Carmel has helped me cope with these responsibilities and encouraged me take on more to prepare me for the rest of my life. The small class sizes and tutor groups create a close knit, safe environment in which you can develop as a person and in a group.
